Orthopaedic Care for Patients Travelling from North Gujarat

Patients from Himmatnagar, Modasa, Mehsana, Patan, Palanpur and nearby towns can see Dr. Karnav Panchal at his consultation locations in Ahmedabad. This page explains how to plan the visit so that one trip achieves as much as possible.

Important: Dr. Panchal consults in Ahmedabad only (Empire Hospital, Sola and Epic Multispecialty Hospital, Thaltej). There is no clinic in Himmatnagar, Modasa, Mehsana, Patan or Palanpur.

Planning your consultation from out of town

The easiest way to plan the trip is to call first and confirm the consultation day and timing at your chosen location. When you call, mention that you are travelling from outside Ahmedabad and what the problem is (for example knee pain, a shoulder injury or a previous joint replacement). The team can then advise you on what to bring.

  • Bring all imaging and reports: X-ray films or CDs, MRI or CT scans with their reports, and any earlier operation notes.
  • Bring a list of your medicines and details of conditions such as diabetes, heart disease or blood-thinner use.
  • Allow time for tests: if new imaging or blood tests are needed, it may help to plan for a longer visit.
  • Wear loose clothing so that the knee, hip or shoulder can be examined easily.

Common reasons patients travel

Patients most often travel for an opinion on knee replacement or hip replacement, persistent knee injuries such as ACL or meniscus tears, shoulder problems such as rotator cuff tears or recurrent dislocation, and second opinions after earlier surgery.

If you need surgery

If surgery is recommended, the plan will cover pre-operative tests, the expected hospital stay and how many follow-up visits to Ahmedabad are likely. Many patients continue physiotherapy closer to home between those visits. Ask about the rehabilitation milestones so that your local physiotherapist can follow the same plan.

Injuries that need urgent care

Do not travel long distances to a clinic appointment with a suspected fracture, an open wound, a dislocated joint, numbness or loss of circulation, or a hot, swollen joint with fever. Go to the nearest emergency department or call 108. Orthopaedic follow-up can be arranged afterwards.

Frequently asked questions

Does Dr. Panchal have a clinic in Himmatnagar, Modasa, Mehsana, Patan or Palanpur?

No. Consultations take place at the two Ahmedabad locations listed on this page. Please call the clinic to ask about any outstation OPD or camp. These are announced separately when they are held.

Can I have my follow-up physiotherapy closer to home?

Often, yes. After surgery, many patients do supervised physiotherapy near home and return to Ahmedabad for review visits. Your rehabilitation plan and follow-up schedule will be agreed with you.

Can I send my reports before travelling?

Call the clinic to ask how to share previous reports. Bringing all original imaging (X-ray, MRI, CT) and reports to your visit helps make the most of your consultation.

Which location is easier to reach from North Gujarat?

Both consultation locations are in western Ahmedabad: Sola (near Kargil Cross Roads) and Thaltej (Rajpath Rangoli Road). Check the timings by phone, then use the directions links to plan your route.
